Street Work Operative 

This qualification is aimed at anyone working in street works such as road works, underground services and reinstating materials. The objective of this course is to support a role in the workplace by confirming competence as a street work operative.

The New Roads and Street Works ACT 1991 (NRSWA) requires that each set of street works has at least 1 operative with prescribed
Street Works qualification onsite while works are taking place.

  • Location and avoidance of underground apparatus
  • Signing, lighting and guarding
  • Excavation in the highway
  • Reinstatement and compaction of backfill materials
  • Reinstatement of sub-base and base in non-bituminous materials
  • Reinstatement in cold-lay bituminous materials
  • Reinstatement in hot-lay bituminous materials
  • Reinstatement of concrete slabs
  • Reinstatement of modular surfaces and concrete footways

Assessment

This is a blended of classroom and practical skills.

Each unit has a multiple choice test and observation that needs to be completed.
